Morbi may not be considered a big city in Gujarat but has been a leader in educational and cultural activites.The credit goes to culture loving kingdom as well as progressive minded citizens of Morbi.

Morbi was the only city in Saurashtra to be honoured with Lakhdheerji Engineering College. Still in other areas at higher education like Arts, Commerce and Science stream. They had to move out which was financially not possible for most of the public especially girls. So keeping all factors in mind, the natives of Morbi then established shree Sarvodaya Education Society at Mumbai in 1959. The ultimate goal was to build an educational campus in Morbi. The journey in this direction begin with establishment of Arts & Science College in 1960.

It is said, "where there is a will there is a way”. The promotors had just wished to build educational institution and destiny cleared the path. Smt . Kashiben wife of late Umiyashankar Nanchand Mehta donated One lakh fifty thousand rupees for Arts College. Another Milestone was achieved when Kesar Kunvarba , Maharani of Morbi State donated rupees four lakhs for Science college in the name of her son Maharaja Shree Mahendra Sinhji. A 12 acre land near Nazarbaug was donated to the society then Bombay state. Thus with lots of zeal and enthusiasm ‘Maharaja Mahendrasinhji Science College' and 'Shree U.N Mehta Arts College’ was established in June 1960 by the society which was then affiliated to Gujarat university.

It was a great sign of future development of the college that experienced teachers like Shri Vasantbhai Upachyaya and Jayanandbhai Dave served as Principal and vice Principal respectively. Later Shri Dave was appointed as principal of Arts college and shri Prasannakumar Jani joined as a principal of Science college.

The intiator of this project was Shri Giridharbhai Daftary who inspired donors and tried hard to receive donations for the society. By the grace of God due to goodwill of society whenever needed donors have  moved forward and flow of donation has not ended.

In the beginning inter arts and inter science classes were started and from june 1963 onwards Arts section  achieved fulfillment by starting degree classes as well. Meanwhile in March 1960 Science college was inagurated by his highness of Morbi state Shri Mayurdhvaj Sinhji . The an inaugural programme was presided by shri Rasikbhai Parikh. The Science college building was inaugurated in 1961 by Hon. Shri Morarajibhai Desai. This building is a great example of architect.

Next step was to build Commerce college. Jamanadasbhai seth a Mumbai based wealthy merchant who had the zeal to serve his native land Morbi donated one lakh twenthyfive thousand rupees to relate the college with his wife’s name Smt. Gulabbahen. Thus in 1962 all the three conventional stream of degree education were established i.e 'Maharaja Mehandra Sinhji Science college' and ‘Shri U.N Mehta Arts and Smt .Gulab Jamnadas Seth Commerce College’. Day by day the amenities were extended and today all the three colleges are running in separate huge buildings in the same campus.

The society worked not only in higher education field but also in secondary education area especially for girls . Sarvodaya girls high school was in augurated in 1961 which is now known as M.P Seth Girls High School. Rasiklal boys High School was started in midest of Morbi Town in 1981. Here socially and economically backward classes are given education without charging fees. In june 1986 N.G Mehta high school was started in college campus.
